Aloo Posto or Poppy Seeds is one of the most popular bengali recipe loved by all. It is the recipe of spiced potatoes cooked with chilli and turmeric. From my childhood i has been a huge fan of this dish and till today when aloo posto was cooked in our house i used to eat the larger part of it. My mom now told that next time when she will cook this item she will hide it from me. So guys just imagine my situation now, haha….jokes apart. I am sure not only in my house but in every bong household aloo posto will be hugely demanding.
Now friends lets find out how to cook this delicious dish and what we need to fulfill it.
Ingredients
5-6 potatoes
5-6 green chillies
100 gram poppy seeds
1tsp sugar
100 gram mustard oil
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder
Red chilli powder
How to cook aloo posto
First cut the potatoes into small pieces and keep them in water
Then cut the green chillies into 4 pieces
Then paste the poppy seeds with rest of the chilli
Now drop 25 gram mustard oil in a cooking pan when it is hot
Then put the potato pieces in it
Next mix approximate salt, 1tblsp sugar and 1sp turmeric powder and little red chilli powder for colour and mix green chilli also
After little fry mix up poppy seeds paste and little water
Continue to stir fry for few seconds or more till the potatoes are cooked
Lastly mix small amount of mustard oil and continue to stir fry for few minutes
Then serve it hot with boiled rice, dal
What a delicious sounding recipe. I love hot food.
